Each 316L grade stainless steel head measures 44 mm width x 49 mm length x 12.5 mm depth. It is fitted with an automatic Miyota 9015 caliber movement made in Japan by Citizen, finished with a solid sapphire scratch resistant lens, signature red crown, enamel case back and jubilee bracelet or refined handmade leather rally strap. Each watch is accompanied by a book containing chapter 7 of our story, limited edition bumper sticker and wax sealed in 100% recyclable packaging. The automotive inspired watches drawing inspiration from World Championship motor racing

Launched Friday, 19 April 2019, Nº 1968 automotive inspired watches are set fifteen years after WT Author’s sixth collection. It marks the 1968 season of World Championship motor racing. Our signature silhouette adopts a rotating bezel referencing racing watches from the time. Each watch is finished beautifully with a refined 22 mm handmade leather rally strap. Or choose a silver-tone, solid stainless steel jubilee bracelet instead. We build the product using tailor-made components from every corner of the globe (from USA to South America, Asia to Switzerland and of course, UK).

The automatic dress watch referencing 1960s era watches

Utilising a combination of matt and highly-polished surfaces. The automotive watches measure 44 mm across, 49 mm high including the lugs with an overall case depth of 12.5 mm. The dial utilises colour and details taking influence directly from 1960’s motor racing and is enhanced with Author’s unique shape. Each finished product utilises a bespoke dial design that brings a subtle knurled textures, combined with traditionally formed custom-made hands. The automotive inspired watches have been modernised with a bespoke “casino chip” enamel screw down back, signature red aluminium crown embossed with our brand’s iconic trademark.

The watch strap made by hand in the UK

Each Nº 1968 silver-tone solid jubilee bracelet is constructed with a five-piece, semi-circular link design designed to be more refined than a standard three-piece bracelet. It represents a flagship alternative to our raw leather straps.

Each Nº 1968 leather rally watch strap has been handmade in Britain using oil tanned dyed through shoulder. The rich colour which is treated with waxes and oils offers a distressed effect which lightens in colour when folded or turned. The natural grain is left intact to show all the growth marks and unique character therefore giving a distinctive antique look with this mellow feeling skin. The strap has been designed and manufactured to fit a 22 mm lug width with an overall thickness of 3 mm and is embossed with the WT Author ‘A’ trademark. Each strap is completed with a polished stainless steel buckle and finished with rounded, burnished strap edges.
