Nº 1968 BLUE RACING WATCHES
Watch Episode 8 of The Vaults here and deep dive into the inspiration behind Nº 1968 racing watches.
Launched Friday, 19 April 2019, Nº 1968 racing watches are set fifteen years after WT Author’s sixth collection. It marks the 1968 season of World Championship motor racing. Our signature silhouette adopts a rotating bezel referencing racing watches from the time. Each watch is finished beautifully with a refined 22 mm handmade leather rally strap. Or choose a silver-tone, solid stainless steel jubilee bracelet instead.
We build our products using tailor-made components from every corner of the globe (from USA to South America, Asia to Switzerland and of course, UK).
Utilising a combination of matt and highly-polished surfaces. The racing watches measure 44 mm across, 49 mm high including the lugs with an overall case depth of 12.5 mm. The dial utilises colour and details taking influence directly from 1960’s motor racing and is enhanced with Author’s unique shape. Each finished product utilises a bespoke dial design that brings a subtle knurled textures, combined with traditionally formed custom-made hands. The racing watches have been modernised with a bespoke “casino chip” enamel screw down back, signature red aluminium crown embossed with our brand’s iconic trademark and Citizen / Miyota 9015 automatic calibre.
Each Nº 1968 silver-tone solid jubilee bracelet is constructed with a five-piece, semi-circular link design designed to be more refined than a standard three-piece bracelet. It represents a flagship alternative to our raw leather straps.
Each Nº 1968 leather rally watch strap has been handmade in Britain using oil tanned dyed through shoulder. The rich colour which is treated with waxes and oils offers a distressed effect which lightens in colour when folded or turned. The natural grain is left intact to show all the growth marks and unique character therefore giving a distinctive antique look with this mellow feeling skin. The strap has been designed and manufactured to fit a 22 mm lug width with an overall thickness of 3 mm and is embossed with the WT Author ‘A’ trademark. Each strap is completed with a polished stainless steel buckle and finished with rounded, burnished strap edges.
We believe that our products should be available at the same price wherever you are in the world therefore we offer free international shipping.

Reviews for Racing Watches
Don’t go and buy a “regular” watch, look at what they have firs, you won’t be disappointed!
Well done WT!!!
A great looking watch with a superb strap and I love it.
I have many watches from Hublot to Citizen to Hamilton and this watch sits with them proudly, with it's own character and charm.
Support British made goods, buy a quality limited edition watch from W. T. Author today! (but make sure I've bought mine before they sell out...)
The concept of designing watches around historical moments and of course the tie in of getting a new book chapter with each watch really appeals to me. I guess we are tied in to 13 watches and I hope they are all as individual and classy as the existing ones.
I live in US and the guys at W. T. Author have been brilliant in ensuring my watches reach me quickly and in great condition.
My favorite and most commented on is my black 1914. Love that watch!!
W.T. Author caught my eye, with the fact that they are assembled in Britain and also seem to be released in a very limited number.
(So far) I have two of the W.T. Author watches. The No. 1914 Blue Trench Watch and also the No. 1934 Blue Dress Watch with the Automatic movement. Both are absolutely stunning and more often than not get admiring comments from passers by.
The care and attention to detail that the guys at W.T. Author take is obvious to see. From the superb packaging that they come in, the hand stitched leather straps, to the hand written number card and service booklet.
You can also sense when owning one of these timepieces that you have a real unique item and one that is special to you. I was able to choose two different numbered editions and knowing that they're the only ones in the world like that is very special, especially in the watch industry.
I also really like the fact that they only release one design a year, it keeps me wondering what they might have in store for us in the future. If my current watches are anything to go by then I can't wait to see the next one.
The make is very high quality, all models feel very solid and sturdy. The straps are made of very strong leather and give the pieces an adventurous and original look. The battery life is very long, actually my 1905 is still running on the same power as it did when it first arrived, where the 1914 needed to have it's battery changed only once.
Every year Sam and Jon come up with a new great concept, connected to a specific year in history only one per decade, telling a unique story.
The anticipation that starts every year at the end of summer and ends around half november - december for me is hard to describe, I am always eager to find out what they come up with next and every time they exceed my expectations.
After months of looking through the range on the W.T. Author website, I finally decided to go with the Nº 1934 as soon as it was released in September 2016 and purchased #08 of 25 which gave it even more personal value to me.
The full service from Jon and Sam has been exceptional from first contacting the guys, through purchasing to after care service. The watch arrives in a beautifully presented box and you get a real sense for how much pride they have taken in designing, building and sending the watch.
I'm sure I'll be buying a few more products from W. T. Author in the very near future!
