We are proud to present our first collection – the Nº 1905 classic wrist watch collection.

It draws inspiration from the turn of the 20th century, a time when the first wristwatches for men were introduced by Louis Cartier. It looks at the traditional aesthetics of pocket watches, reflecting pioneering achievements of the era with signature shoulders brazed directly into the bespoke case.

The Nº 1905 is a quartz wristwatch with a stop second device and serial numbered back. Each 316L stainless steel watch head measures 46 mm width x 49 mm length x 11 mm depth (including lugs) and is tested to 10 ATM (100m / 325ft) water resistance.

Utlising meticulously polished surfaces, it has been elevated further with the use of delicately etched case walls and brazed lugs. The machined crown features a bold, deep red anodised finish, consistent with all of our past collections. The bespoke watch head is finished with an unapologetically raw buffalo hide handmade strap in tan with a stainless steel roller buckle. It is riveted directly onto the watch head.

Every watch is built to order with British and imported parts in our UK workshop located in Shropshire. Each watch is guaranteed against any defects in material or workmanship that may occur under normal use for a period of 24 months from the date of purchase. Learn more.

Featuring a light cream finish applied to a beautiful matt dial that brings a striking contrast against the signature black indices. Original, labelled hour markers are carefully placed on the dial with a contrasting minute track.

Founded in Waldenburgertal, the company headquarters are now in Lausen. The group has five international subsidiaries.

The caliber Nº 513S is analogue quartz movement, assembled in Switzerland. It is produced in-house by high-speed automatic assembly lines and undergoes strict quality checks.

The component includes repairable metal clockwork with a very powerful stepper motor and fixed pulse.

It has been designed to fit perfectly on the wrist within a robust and solid watch head that has been assembled to be put through its paces. The result is a timepiece with a 46 mm diameter, a length of 52.5 mm (lug-to-lug), all contained within a depth of 11 mm (including lugs).

We effortlessly combine beautifully brushed surfaces that meet to create a clean aesthetic with incredibly strong properties. The radially etched watch walls bring a dynamic style whilst offering a fantastically machined aesthetic.

The intricately machined screw down back includes deep, tooled recesses with enamel infill to reflect our established signature “poker chip” aesthetic influenced from our previous watch collections. The component creates a powerful seal that ensures water resistance tested to 100m / 10 ATM.

The stable construction with precisely defined architecture has been designed and machined to be as beautiful as every other component on the watch. The back is finished with our intricately printed mark and serial code to indicate its allotted number in the limited edition collection.

The crown is placed at the 3 o’clock position with lugs that fall tightly underneath the top component of the watch head, avoiding any discomfort to your wrist.

The sapphire coating offers significantly more scratch resistance vs. traditional glass, plastic or acrylic crystal as well as being extremely strong.

The watch dial is where we can be the most expressive. The Nº 1905 watch comes in four different colour options: Blue, Black, Cream and White. Each one carries a specific correlation of meticulously designed hour, minute and second indices. The hour markers utilise a correlation of our applied, signature “tuning fork” indices placed securely to the dial to compliment the labelled WT Author mark at the 12 position.

The highly distinctive minute, hour and second hands utilise silver-tone finishes. The bold forms have been designed to be easily read and visible against the dial.

Each unapologetically raw leather watch strap has been handmade in Britain using vegetable tanned dyed through buffalo hide. The rich colour, treated with waxes and oils offers a distressed effect which lightens in colour when folded or turned. The natural grain is left intact to show all the growth marks and unique character, giving a distinctive look with this mellow feeling skin. The strap has been designed and manufactured to fit a 24 mm lug width with an overall thickness of 3 mm and is embossed with the WT Author ‘A’ trademark. Each strap is completed with a brushed stainless steel buckle and finished with rounded, burnished strap edges.

Our packaging has been engineered to be 100% reusable and recyclable, as well as providing a lightweight solution to reduce wasteful distribution. We endeavour to use recycled stock at every possible opportunity. The inherent beauty of this repurposed material is adorned by our own exclusive artwork.

Every watch comes accompanied by the following items:

  • Signed and numbered screen print (limited edition screen print with signature and corresponding number to match the watch’s serial code).
  • Chapter 1 taken from The Book of WT Author (the Nº 1905’s story visualised within a beautifully formatted booklet).

One of my favourite watches, it looks so different from anything else and is the watch that is most commented on whenever I wear it. It’s a great vintage wardrobe addition as well for any vintage period event, e.g. the Goodwood Revival.

I’ve had my 1905 edition watch now over a year. It’s getting better with age! Such a talking piece around any table and looks superb. The packaging and detail that goes into the watch are second go none. I want another already! Keep it up 🙂

Received wisdom in the watch world is that spending £350 on a quartz watch is a bit crazy.

On this occasion that would be very very wrong. This is an item far greater than the sum of its parts.

The details, fit and finish on the watch definitely justify the price tag. After purchasing the watch at the Bath and West show I have worn it every day for the last 6 months and apart from the strap (which has aged magnificently) you wouldn’t be able to tell.

The small details such as the ribbing around the case, red crown and the large numerals really make the watch stand out as different before you even start on the trench watch styling.

The strap is frankly a work of art. For a start it’s buffalo… Not something you see every day. When it arrived it was a very stiff, pale tan and it did wonder how it would age. I will admit to cheating here, I did for the first few days use Chamberlains leather milk on the strap which spead up the process a bit. Since then the strap has deleloped a great lustre and aged so well it’s nearly black in some places. After about a week it was perfectly formed to my wrist.

It’s worth noting that a) the strap is riveted, it’s going nowhere without a trip to the Wt Author workshop, b) it’s thick (especially at the buckle) , which is great for longevity, less great for fitting under a shirt. It can just about slide under a cuff of a regular fit shirt but will more often than not catch.

The movement hasn’t missed a beat since it arrived, the sapphire coated mineral lens has withstood a few heavy knocks with door handles etc and the movement on the standout red crown is smooth and precise.

All that before you even start on the exclusivity of the piece.

In short, a watch and company so good I almost immediately pre ordered their new model the 1968… And I doubt that will be the last!
