Feast of St George 2016

St George’s Day 2016: This year’s feast takes place on Saturday 23 April, between 12pm and 6pm.

Trafalgar Square will be decorated in red and white for our national day, so go and join in the free themed activities including live music, games, dancing and storytelling. This year, celebrity chefs will be giving live demonstrations where you will also have the opportunity to sample some traditional English fare from lots of stalls. Inspired by the 13th-century origins as a national day of feasting, it’s time to celebrate!

The event will also be marking 400 years since the death of William Shakespeare – the country’s beloved bard… and possible long-distant ancestor of one of our founders, trust us – we’re looking into this…

Shakespeare400

Shakespeare400 is a consortium of leading cultural, creative and educational organisations, coordinated by King’s College London, which will mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in 2016. Through a connected series of public performances, programmes, exhibitions and creative activities in the capital and beyond, partners will celebrate the legacy of Shakespeare during the quatercentenary year.

There are lots of things organised for this weekend and you can check out what’s going on by visiting their website here!
