Nº 1914

Blue trench watch by W. T. Author

Launched Friday, 19th September 2014 & built in Britain, Nº 1914 blue military watch for men by W. T. Author is set nine years after W. T. Author’s debut collection. It draws inspiration from World War One: an era where intensified warfare made digging about in one’s pocket for a watch far too time-consuming, and so the trench wristwatch was introduced. Developing the aesthetics of the pocket watch even further into the realms of the modern wristwatch, the signature brazed lugs on the blue trench watch have been shifted to extend directly from the side of the bespoke head allowing the more refined Nº 1914 hand-made leather strap to be fitted.

Author’s unique hour markers

Custom-made hands

The military watch case measures 46mm across, 52.5mm high including the lugs with an overall case depth of 10mm. The dial utilises mustard-tone numbers taking influence directly from 1914 trench watches and is enhanced with Author’s unique hour markers. Traditionally formed custom-made hands with tonal colour infill complete the dial. The blue trench watch has been modernised with the beautiful “casino chip” enamel screw down case back, a signature red aluminium crown embossed with Author’s trademark and a Swiss made 513S calibre movement.

Raw leather watch strap

Exquisite beauty

Each Nº 1914 leather watch strap has been hand-made in Britain using Argentinian-sourced buffallo hide. The rich brown colour of these 8 – 9 ounce double shoulders, which is applied during the oil tanning process, goes completely through the leather. Finished to an incredibly high standard the result is a naturally beautiful strap with a coarse grain that will uniquely mould itself to your wrist over time. The strap has been designed and manufactured to fit a 24 mm lug width with an overall thickness of 3 – 4mm and is embossed with the W. T. Author ‘A’ trademark. Rounded strap edges and burnished using our own organic wax each strap is completed with a black PVD coated brass buckle.

1 review for Nº 1914 blue military watch

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

Every watch WT Author creates is a timeless piece of art, the quality is very very high, it can take hits and water and still look great for every occasion. The leather strap wears down beautifully making it look light a real adventurers timepiece. Whenever I wear the 1905 or 1914 people get attracted to it an especially the red crown draws a lot of attention. The watch is just magnificent and so is the idea behind it, every year I will be waiting in eager anticipation what they come up with next!
